Free Christian Magazines for Women
1 Thessalonians 5:11
|
The Heart of a Woman is a Christian magazine that was written and published by Australian women. They freely gave of their time and talent to encourage and support women of all ages and walks of life - many men read them as well - and all to the glory of God.
Originally, the magazine was published quarterly, and up to 3000 copies were being mailed per issue to subscribers without charge. Wendy Davie was the editor-in-chief and driving force behind this wonderful ministry. Today, print copies are no longer available despite many requests from enriched readers. However... the original 9 issues have not vanished! They are now available on this site as free PDF downloads to keep encouraging women all over the world. We want you to enjoy them, share them with friends, and thank the Lord. Wendy Davie can be reached through her website Creatures of Praise. |
The Gift of God's Love (The First Printed Edition of The Heart of a Woman )
What better place to start with our very first issue of “The Heart of a Woman” than with the title “God’s Gift of Love.” You will be reading about Eve, Ruth and Bathsheba, and about the story of “Esther’s Inner Beauty and Calling.” We also hope that you will find the “Marriage Comparisons of Past and Present” enlightening in view of our current culture. Our marriages are symbolic of Jesus Christ and His bride (the church), so we as women have a very important part to play! As Christ's bride, we are loved beyond measure and will delight to take part in “The Marriage Supper of the Lamb.” Find out more so you can look forward to it! May God bless you as you read, Wendy Davie (Editor-In-Chief). |
Windows of Opportunity
…from God’s perspective, He continues to reach out to us. Within this issue you will discover that through God's hand every trial is a window of opportunity. …from our perspective, we hope you enjoy the pieces written about well-known Bible characters and their choices (both good and bad). There are poems to help you relate to choices, testimonies and stories to bless your heart, and (as always) Moments with Melissa. We also welcome two new writers: Mrs. Jane Cruickshank, an acknowledged and much loved teacher and speaker in Queensland, and Mrs. Margaret Lepke, our new Natural Health Editor from New South Wales, who is a highly trained and widely respected counsellor, teacher and naturopath. May God continue to bless you, Wendy. |
Don't Waste Your Sorrows
From the Editor's Desk: Many years ago I read a book titled Don't Waste Your Sorrows by Paul E. Billheimer. It impressed me so much that I have never forgotten it. Sadly, this book is no longer in print. Most of us writers for this issue have known sorrows too personal or difficult to share, and yet our Lord has taught us many things through suffering. We have been blessed as we prayed, studied and wrote, and we hope that you, too, may know the blessing of how to hand over your sorrows to the only One who can provide relief and healing. May God bless you now and always with His loving presence, Wendy. |
Loving Yourself in the Light of God's Love
From the Editor's Desk: This issue desires to help us as women to understand the basic problem of attaining a godly self-image. Many of us struggle with feelings of worthlessness, and we need to learn to see ourselves as God does: precious individuals in His care. No matter what our background, age, work or culture, we are women of worth! Our prayer is that you will know this great love of God, sent to us through His Son, and that you may see yourselves as women of worth, chosen and loved and special in His sight. With my love to you in Jesus Christ, Wendy. |
I Heard God Today
From the Editor's Desk: Many years ago someone said to me in a nasty tone, "You think you have a personal line with God, don't you?" I was so taken aback at the time that I couldn't answer. My response should have been, "I do, and so can you if you would only desire it!" How we would all love to hear His voice, to see Him, to know in our innermost being that He is God and that, in spite of all the troubles and trials we face, we can simply look to Him and know without a doubt that He can handle things. Yours in Christ Jesus, Wendy. |
The Song That Changes Lives
From the Editor's Desk: "There is no greater love, than Jesus dying love!" What a statement! For those who belong to Him, this issue will be one of encouragement to grow and look heaven-ward. We have tried to express Christ's holiness and our frailness, His forgiveness and our gratitude. This issue of our magazine has become a wonderful song of salvation, and I hope you will be encouraged by the testimonies, enjoy the poems, and find peace, joy and rejoicing for your souls. Wendy Davie. |
Forgetting the Past
From the Editor's Desk: For many people, forgetting the past is hard to do, but as we fully trust the Lord to cleanse us from all that is behind, and to reveal to us how He has strengthened us through the hard times, it can be done. Nothing in this life is wasted, and as I have said in the past, "I never really learn much unless I have a jolly good cry." This time, our magazine is full of testimonies, both happy and sad, and relates good stories and helpful teaching. It is our prayer that each of our readers will be blessed abundantly as they read. May your year be filled with the grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ, Wendy Davie. |
Jewels in the Desert
From the Editor's Desk: I don't suppose many of us have ever been to a desert - one filled with real sand, wind, cold, thirst and camels; but most of us have probably experienced an emotional or spiritual desert. This current issue of our magazine deals with the latter type of desert. It points out reasons as to why we may enter, and how we may get through. When coming out at the other end, we hope that we would have learned something valuable from our journey - thus shining brightly as the gleaming jewels we were always meant to be. May our Lord bless and keep each one of you in His loving arms, Wendy. |
Learning from the Ants
From the Editor's Desk: All of us who have written for this issue have learned many things from the ants. We discovered that God created them as examples of many godly qualities, and when He said, "Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise," He meant it in more ways than one (Prov. 6:6 and also 30:25). This is our last Heart of a Woman magazine as the Lord is closing this ministry. May He richly bless, keep and guide you all as you seek to serve Him in the whole of your life! Wendy. |
